The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah has sent out a strong message to public universities to desist from increasing the cost of admission forms for the next academic year. This comes on the back of reports that some public tertiary institutions have increased the cost of admission forms for undergraduate and diploma programs for the 2018/2019 academic year. Ghanaian skeleton athlete Akwasi Frimpong has earned himself a spot at the 2018 Winter Olympics, becoming the first male West-African skeleton athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics. Two parents have been arrested in California after police found they allegedly kept their 13 children captive at home, some “shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks”. David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, were held on charges of torture and child endangerment. Transport fares are likely to go up by the close of this week, that’s coming from the Ghana private roads transport union. Earlier this month, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) announced a possible increase in fares due to increment in the prices of spare parts. Some suspected members of the terrorist group, ISIS, have been arrested by the Odorkor Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service. Suspects Ismail Ali Musah, 31 and Osman Alhassan, 33, a Malian were arrested at the KATA Hostel near Nyamekye. So far, a total of seven hand grenades (bombs) have been retrieved by the police.
