Three soldiers of Operation Cowleg who sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds have been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. They came under attack from persons suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen while on operational duties at Agogo in the Ashanti region on Monday. The nomadic herdsmen are said to have ambushed the security personnel who had responded to a distress call from a woman that her farm was being destroyed by a herd of cattle. The cedi began 2018 on a bearish note, depreciating against all the three major trading currencies on the interbank currency market. At the close of trading on January 5, the cedi had registered average depreciation of 0.24 per cent against the three benchmark currencies.
