New Year’s Eve 2017 saw WhatsApp users send a mammoth 75 billion messages across the service. That number eclipses any other day in its history with the previous record of 65 million on New Year’s Eve 2016 well and truly smashed. WhatsApp says that of the 75 billion messages sent, 13 billion were photos and five billion included videos. WhatsApp users could have boosted this number even further if an outage hadn’t hit the service on New Year’s Eve. Former President John Mahama has accused his successor, Nana Akufo-Addo of running his mouth whilst in opposition, but says the latter is unable to match his words with deeds now that he is in government. Though we figured this was coming for quite a while, HBO has finally confirmed that there will be no new Game of Thrones in 2018 and, instead, we’ll have to wait until 2019 to see the final season. Outspoken political commentator Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has died. Alhaji Bature who is also the founder and Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper died Friday morning, 3news.com gathered. He was on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he was receiving treatment after he suffered stroke while in his bath in December 2017. The Speaker of Parliament, Mike Aaron Oquaye has set up a five-member committee adhoc to investigate claims expatriates paid as high as US$100,000 to sit close to President Akufo-Addo at an event.
