The National Petroleum Authority has announced that  prices of LPG and petrol at the pumps, would remain unchanged from January 1, 2018. A statement by the Authority says the prices were stabilised in line with drop in crude and petroleum prices at the world market, as well as stability in the exchange rate. “The Authority has equally activated the Price Stabilization and Recovery Levy to stem potential upward adjustment in the price of diesel,” the statement from the Corporate Affairs Division of NPA said. “The NPA wishes to assure the public of its commitment to monitor the situation in order…

Medical doctors have identified hypertension, overweight and diabetics at an alarming rate along the coast towns in the Western Region. Of the 21,035 people screened in 14 fishing communities in the region, 4,544 people representing 21.6 per cent were hypertensive while 4,502 others representing 21.4 per cent overweight. A total of 3,071 others representing 14.6 per cent were diagnosed of diabetics. Additional 2, 987 residents representing 14.2 per cent were also obese. Two persons have been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly robbing a mechanic of his motor bike at gun point at Ablorman, near Amasaman in Accra. Luck eluded one of the suspects, Joseph Ahorde, a mason who left his mobile phone at the scene and same was used to trace him at his hideout in Ablorman, near Amasaman. Ahorde then confessed to committing the robbery with Sulley Karim, a mechanic who was armed with a pump action gun on the day of the incident. Prosecution of persons who fail to pay their mandatory television licence fees will begin from January 4, 2018. The Chief Justice Gloria Akuffo has accordingly established 11 special TV Licence Courts across the regions to try defaulters of the licence fees reintroduced in 2015.
