Government is poised to spend 100 million dollars to reclaim lands destroyed by activities of illegal miners in the country through the Multi-sectorial Mining Integrated Project (MMIP). Jospong Group of Companies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pureco, a Hungarian company, for the construction and installation of sewage and waste water treatment plants in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The project, which is expected to begin this month and will be completed in the middle of 2019, will cost about seven million euros, with additional 4.5 million euros for a solid waste recycling plant. Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, has dismissed reports of impropriety in a $64 million agreement the University signed with Africa Integras under his tenure. Professor Aryeetey told journalists that the University of Ghana had carried out the necessary due diligence and gone through the right procedures before the deal was signed.
