Seven suspected armed robbers have been rounded up by the Central regional police command in its latest fight against crime. The exercise was part of the “Operation Hit Hard” launched by regional command on 2nd September 2017 to identify hiding places of notorious criminals disturbing residents of the region. The Regional Police Commander, COP Rev Nenyi Ampah Benin told the media the suspects were arrested in Kasoa, Winneba and Cape Coast. A three-hour meeting called by government in an attempt to get striking teachers of colleges of education to resume work has ended inconclusively. Though government, represented by the Ministry of Finance, urged the teachers who have since November 2, 2017 been on strike, to return to the classrooms as processes are underway to pay them their salary arrears and resolve other matters, but the teachers turned down the request. A Political Youth Activist, Constant Kuampah on Tuesday appeared before an Accra District Court charged with murder. Kuampah is alleged to have led a group of people who shot severally into house where one Fabian Mensah had then sought refuge and in the process injuring him which led to his death in the Volta Region last year. The gunman who killed 26 churchgoers in Texas fled from a mental health clinic in 2012, according to a police report. El Paso officers who detained Devin Kelley five years ago were told he was “a danger to himself and others”.
