A total of GHC45,000 being proceeds from three days of road toll collection, has allegedly been robbed from the Tema Motorway tollbooth in a case the Police is treating as a possible inside job. A Police officer and a supervisor on duty at the tollbooth have already been picked up by the Police at Tema as primary suspects. Civil society groups in Ghana have raised red flag over the country’s Special Prosecutor bill, arguing the political independence of the prosecutor to be appointed could be threatened if the mode of appointment as contained in the bill is not revised. According to the groups, the process under which the special prosecutor would be appointed “is insufficient to cure the challenges of political bias”. Former President Jerry John Rawlings was at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Saturday to visit a young boy who was struck by a vehicle at Offinso in Kumasi a few months ago. Peter Mensah, who was six at the time of the accident and is now seven, was knocked down on his way home, crushing his legs leading to a double amputation. At least 26 people have been killed and 20 others wounded after a gunman opened fire at a Texas church during Sunday service. The attack happened at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, a small town in Wilson County. The victims’ ages ranged from five to 72.
