Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has downplayed suggestions that the sanctioning of some radio stations by the National Communications Authority (NCA) is politically motivated. The NCA last week sanctioned 131 stations found to have committed various infractions pertaining to their authorisations to operate as contained in Section 13 of the Electronics Communications Act (2009), Act 775. President Donald Trump has described the gunman who killed 59 people and injured 527 in Las Vegas on Sunday as “a sick man, a demented man”. Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wireko-Brobby, has proposed a name change for disability schools in the country in order to prevent the stigma associated with the current names. The Scholarship Secretariat has granted full scholarships to all continuing senior high school students of Denkyira Obuasi. The scholarship scheme is in line with measures by government in collaboration with stakeholders to aid in the restoration of the town which gained notoriety in May 2017 for the lynching of Major Maxwell Mahama. The 32-year-old soldier was killed by a mob at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region while on official duties on Monday, May 29, 2017. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commissioned the $55.50 million Wa Water Project, at Jambusie, on Monday, 2nd October, 2017, at the commencement of his 2-day tour of the Upper West Region. The Water Project, which was constructed with a facility from the Korean Exim Bank, will supply 3.3 million gallons of water per day to the 100,705 residents of Wa.
