Agya Koo Exposes Breakdown in Campaign, Points Finger at Party Leaders
Notable backlash has been directed at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by Dr. Tony Aubynn, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Commission, for insinuating that they could face electoral defeat in the forthcoming December 7 general election if they heed calls to prohibit small-scale mining. Dr. Aubynn has criticized the government and its appointees for their apparent reluctance to clamp down on illegal mining, citing the upcoming election as a major factor. He decried the government’s tendency to shift blame onto him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the loss of several parliamentary seats in the 2020…
The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) bid to break the 8-year cycle is encountering hurdles as parliamentary candidates appear to be neglecting their campaign duties, prompting a stern call for action from the party’s general secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua. Amid predictions from both local and international polls favoring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, the NPP is struggling to unify its efforts. Reliable sources within the party’s national executive reveal that parliamentary candidates aligned with the NPP are displaying a lack of enthusiasm in their campaign activities. In response to this concern, General Secretary Kodua…
It remains unclear if organized labor was swayed by President Akufo-Addo during the critical meeting held on October 3, 2024, to delay their planned nationwide strike against the escalating issue of illegal mining. While discussions unfolded, the Minerals Commission proceeded to grant multiple new mining licenses to small-scale mining enterprises in a seemingly cavalier manner. On the very day of the meeting, the Commission astonishingly issued a total of eleven (11) fresh licenses to various small-scale mining companies as recorded in the Ghana Minerals Repository. Among the recipients were Richland Mining and Trading Enterprise (License Code SSML-T243/2024), Confidence Mining Enterprise…
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has forewarned that a potential administration under John Mahama’s leadership will instill fear in corrupt individuals within Ghana. Addressing supporters during a comprehensive three-day regional tour in Sandema, Upper East Region, Asiedu Nketia underscored the NDC’s unwavering dedication to recouping every misused pesewa under the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) regime. He reassured party faithful that the NDC would uphold principles of justice and equity for law-abiding citizens, concurrently maintaining a stance of holding accountable those implicated in acts of corruption and mismanagement of state resources. “Rest assured,…
Ghana is currently at a critical juncture, with citizens from all corners of society calling for resolute action against the grave repercussions of illegal mining – repercussions that contaminate our water sources and devastate our forests. Despite the growing demands for accountability, President Akuffo Addo and the ruling NPP government have chosen to turn a blind eye to these mounting challenges, which now include the looming threat of labor strikes capable of paralyzing the entire nation. The recent unjust treatment of 53 individuals who peacefully protested this government’s inaction represents a stark blemish on our democracy. These protesters were unjustly…
As Ghana approaches the 2024 elections, it’s crucial that we rethink our approach to economic growth and job creation. A visionary strategy for achieving these goals is the development of a 24-hour economy within the services sector. This proposal, championed by the NDC’s presidential candidate John Mahama, outlines a comprehensive plan to extend service availability, boost economic activity, create jobs, and improve public convenience. By adopting a 24-hour operational model in key service sectors such as finance, retail, healthcare, and public services, Ghana can unlock significant economic potential and reduce disparities across the country.
