Dutch Ambassador Ron Strikker will be at the Ocean Green Villas in Prampram in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday to open this year’s training programme for graduates of information technology (IT). The 7-week intensive training begins with 20 graduates of various universities in Ghana. They will be subjected to training from IT professionals from Ghana, Canada and the Netherlands. Dozens of government supporters have burst into Venezuela’s opposition-controlled National Assembly, injuring several lawmakers and journalists. Witnesses said the fracas came after an assembly session to mark the country’s Independence Day. The intruders brandished sticks and set off fireworks in the capitol building’s gardens, AFP reported. Footage from the scene showed two opposition lawmakers with blood running down their faces. The immediate past Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, has filed a suit at the Accra High Court against outspoken legislator Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. Mr Awuah-Darko accuses Mr Agyapong of expressing defamatory statements about him on two Accra-based radio stations – Asempa FM and Oman FM. An Accra High Court has struck out a case involving Alhaji Alhassan Umar, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Zabzugu in the Northern Region for having dual citizenship. The Ghana National Association of Teachers is pushing for female teachers in the country to be given six months maternity leave, arguing that would give them enough time to wean their babies. Ghana faces imminent Tuberculosis outbreak as the country is recording increasing numbers of emerging transmission of drug-resistant strain of bacteria amongst newly diagnosed patients.
