Former first lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has announced an initiative, through her Lordina Foundation, to provide quarterly free health screening and medication for retired pastors of the Assemblies of God Church. An ultimatum issued by the Overlord of Gonja land, Yagbonwura Biikutu Jewu Soale l, to his paramount chiefs on 11th August 2024 to expel suspected Burkinabe rebels from the area expired on 1st September 2024. However, the alleged rebels not only remain entrenched but are reportedly being reinforced by newcomers from Burkina Faso. As of July 31, 2024, Ghana’s provisional nominal central government debt stood at GH¢761.1 billion, equivalent to US$51.1 billion, according to Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam. A female Police officer has reportedly committed suicide at Mamponteng in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The deceased has only been identified as Corporal Boakye.
