Media houses in Ghana have joined forces in the fight against a canker that has bedeviled the country for years now, threatening the very existence of its citizens. Some economists have lauded government on the issuance of a historic 15-year bond, as part of measures to pay off some debts accrued from the issuance of short term bonds by the previous government. The finance ministry yesterday successfully issued 15 and 7-year bonds with the same coupon of 19.75%, raising a total amount of $1.13 billion. The Ghana Police Service has assured it will continue to fight illegal mining (galamsey) in the country whether it involved foreigners or Ghanaians. The Police say it is true some Chinese nationals are involved in illegal mining in the country but nothing will influence the administration in fighting them. A four-year-old boy has been burnt to death in a fire outbreak at a house in Tarkwa in the Western Region. The boy, Walid Mohammed, said to be sick, was left in a room by his father who was taking care of him at the time. Mother of the child had left him in the care of his father who also left him in their room to buy something nearby. The executive committee of the Ghana Football Association has confirmed Kwesi Appiah as the coach of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars of Ghana.
