The Police in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday impounded 135 tricycles and arrested their riders for violating various road traffic laws within the Kumasi metropolis. According to officials of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD), the move is to instill sanity on the road by ensuring all road users comply with traffic rules and regulations. The riders were arrested for not wearing helmet, jumping red light, using unregistered tricycles and engaging in unauthorized commercial activities. Uber is launching a website outlining how its cars move around cities, in an effort to appease city authorities who have long called for more data sharing. It will provide data on dozens of cities from next month. Uber’s transportation data could help cities to improve traffic flow. Samsung heir-apparent Lee Jae-yong is to be interviewed as a suspect in a corruption scandal surrounding the impeached South Korean president. The firm is accused of giving donations to non-profit foundations operated by Choi Soon-sil, a confidante of President Park Geun-hye.
