The Minority in Parliament staged a sudden walk-out from the vetting of three Supreme Court nominees after participating in the session for two minister-designate.
Led by Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority proceeded on that action due to what members said was a rushed decision.
Accordng to Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin, there was a prior meeting with the Clerk in the presence of the First Deputy Speaker to have the vetting of the judge-nominees in October.
“We are not helping democracy,” Mr Afenyo-Markin indicated, accusing the Majority of using its numbers to bully it’s way through.
But First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor ruled that the vetting will proceed, describing the objections raised by the Minority Leader as frivolous and vexatious.
This ruling left the Minority with the option of walking out the vetting of the judge-nominees.
