The General Overseer of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has made some bold allegations against musicians, particularly secular acts, who break out from churches.
In an audio played on the Daybreak Hitz Show on March 25, 2025, Pastor Chris criticised the trend where these musicians often leave the church and chart a new path once they start achieving success.
Labelling the trend as an act of cheating, he said that these musicians only used the church as a means to an end.
“No one has cheated the church like the music industry. What most of them have ever done is use the church. If you look at history, you’ll see many worldly singers who started in the church. They were in the choir, leading praise, but ended up in the world. All they ever did was use the church to make themselves popular or find a way to use the church to make money,” he said.
Pastor Chris added, “They always look for a way how to leverage such opportunity to make money. Satan enters into their minds to give them ideas on how to use the church to benefit themselves.”
He then urged fellow pastors to refrain from giving young, talented individuals the opportunity to showcase their skills in church to prevent such occurrences in the future.
“I have told you not to give them the change anymore or they will go to hell. I am trying to save them… They are exposed to poetic ability because most of the things they write, sinners can write them,” he added.
