The Public Relations Officer of Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa, has stated that Reggae Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy will win the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year accolade.
She explained that the artiste released several hit songs and performed at various concerts, including Tidal Rave, the 3FM All White Party, and other reputable events across the nation.
The entertainment pundit also noted that the BHIM concert, which featured high-profile artistes like Davido and Spice, helped project Ghanaian music and bridge the gap with the international music industry.
“Apart from King Promise, Stonebwoy has the most category nominations. He has eight nominations, with multiple nominations in some categories. We have a host of shows lined up on our record, including the African Games and other events across the country. Stonebwoy has performed live in Denkyira, at the 3FM All White Party, Tidal Rave, and the BHIM Festival, which featured Davido, Spice, and other top-class international artists.
“We will not succumb to pressure; we are very optimistic about breaking and setting that record – winning Artiste of the Year back-to-back,” she said while speaking on United Showbiz aired on UTV on April 5, 2025.
Adutwumwaa also shut down claims that musicians who have already won awards should make way for up-and-coming artistes, arguing that such views undermine the spirit of consistency.
“The assertion that musicians who have won awards should allow others to win is something that needs to stop, as it undermines the spirit of consistency,” she added.
The TGMA main awards event is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The awards night will be preceded by a pre-party on May 2, 2025, bringing together nominees and industry stakeholders for networking and discussions.
The nominees’ jam, commonly referred to as the TGMA Xperience, was held on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
