A popular Nigerian pastor accused of rape has returned to the pulpit one month after taking a “leave of absence”. Biodun Fatoyinbo, who is the founder and senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (Coza) in the capital, Abuja, was accused on 28 June by celebrity photographer Busola Dakolo of raping her twice when she was a teenager. Mr Fatoyinbo denied the accusation and the police are currently investigating the case. An explosion outside Egypt’s National Cancer Institute in the centre of the capital, Cairo, has killed 19 people and injured 30 others. The interior ministry said a car travelling against the traffic collided on the corniche with other vehicles, causing an explosion. Pictures show the burnt remains of at least one car: There is no immediate indication that the incident was terror-related. A non-governmental organisation, Mawuvio Outreach Programme (MOP), is providing 200 under privileged children at Ayikumah and its environs in the Greater Accra region with free education and skills training. The beneficiaries, who are mostly orphaned and disadvantaged children, have been receiving free boarding education from kindergarten to Junior High School. A drug dealer in Brazil was caught trying to escape from the jail where he was locked up by disguising himself as his 19-year-old daughter. Prison authorities in Rio de Janeiro released a video showing the inmate wearing a wig, a silicone mask, a bra and a tight-fitting T-shirt. A four-year-old boy who was reported missing in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region has been found dead 24 hours later. The lifeless body of Justice Kofi Minta was on Sunday found floating in a small lagoon close to a Police barracks at Effia. Two South African pilots behind a project that saw teenage students fly a homemade aircraft across Africa have been killed in a plane crash in western Tanzania. Des Werner and Werner Froneman were in a support plane following the teenagers that went down in Tabora region. They were accompanying a team who had just flown a four-seater Sling 4 plane from Cape Town to Cairo. They had been expected to land back in South Africa on Monday. Border patrol officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) are to be armed with guns before this year’s Christmas, the Comptroller-General, Kwame Asuah-Takyi has assured.
