Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has provided clarity to the comments of President Akufo-Addo about the need for women in Ghana to be more dynamic in their activism for gender equality. The President Tuesday was on the panel of the 2019 Women Deliver Conference, a gathering of gender advocates in Canada, where he observed there was not enough activism from the female dominated population in Ghana. The President acknowledged women needed power but added they have to do more to get that power. But his comments were met with fury, especially from the feminist communities and groupings, who argued that…

It’s bad news for hipsters but men with beards harbour more germs in their whiskers than dogs carry in their fur, scientists say. The alarming news follows a study that found every sampled beard was crawling with bacteria, and nearly half had bugs that were hazardous to human health. By contrast, a number of dogs tested proved to have lower levels of microbes. Now men have been left bristling with fury, with claims that the results stem from pogonophobia – the irrational fear of beards. In the study, scientists wanted to discover whether there was a risk that humans might…

The Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Amidu, has said the only thing that can stop him from investigating and prosecuting corrupt Members of Parliament (MPs) and members of the executive will be for him to be impeached. According to the SP, MPs cannot be exempted in the pursuit of corruption as far as he remains in office as the first Special Prosecutor. “The solution to gaining exception for Members of Parliament from investigation and possible prosecution for suspected corruption offences is to get the first Special Prosecutor out of office in a bi-partisan manner by impeachment or to allow the appropriate…
