Over a million cubic metres of various waste materials have been removed from the choking Odaw storm drain and the Korle Lagoon in Accra since February this year as part of measures by government to reduce flooding in most parts of the city. A fully loaded Nigerian licenced articulated truck on has blocked the Ghana-Ivory Coast highway at Apowa in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region causing an unbearable gridlock. According to bystanders, the blockade happened around 9:00pm Monday while the articulated truck was meandering through a pothole-ridden section of the highway. The back tires of the truck got stuck in one of the potholes filled with mud, leaving the truck tilting dangerously on its side. The government of Ghana under Section 43 of the Minerals and Mining Act of 2006, Act 732, has 10 per cent Carried Interest in all mining companies registered under the Companies Act of 1963. A police officer in the Central Region has been caught on video allegedly negotiating for payment and receiving bribe from ‘associates’ of a criminal suspect to make foolish, a narcotic and cybercrime case he was handling.
