A new study found an increased risk of dying early from any cause for people who consumed a lot of sugary drinks. US researchers compared, for the first time, 100 percent fruit juices with sugar-sweetened beverages such as cola and lemonade. They found very similar associations for both fruit juices and sugary drinks with an increased risk of dying early, though they said more research was needed. An expert described the study as important but…
The final episode of Game of Thrones has been broadcast, drawing to a close one of the most successful series in television history. But the season eight finale has received a mixed reaction from fans and critics. More than a million viewers signed a petition to have the eighth season remade with more “competent writers”. And, if the early reactions to the finale are anything to go by, the critics aren’t far behind them. “There’s no doubt this season has been a rushed business,” wrote Lucy Mangan in The Guardian. “It has wasted opportunities, squandered goodwill and failed to do justice to its…

The National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr Bernard Mornah, has said the appointment of their party leader, Dr Edward Mahama, as an Ambassador-at-Large by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is ‘killing’ the PNC. Blaming the current passiveness of the PNC on the appointment of their leader into office by the NPP government, Mr Mornah said the situation had marred the smooth running of the PNC and had brought many challenges on them as executives of the party. “Dr Mahama is the leader of the party. As we speak, that is the constitution of our party, so…

Reggae/dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are to be sanctioned by the organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for the scuffle that broke between them on stage at the 20th VGMA Awards on Sunday.
