The Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has handed over the e-Government Infrastructure to Lebara Ghana Ltd to manage and commercialise for 10 years. The government fibre and LTE network was previously managed by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA). Speaking at the handover event, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful indicated that government is committed to partnership with the private sector to promote efficiency and cost effectiveness in the delivery of services to the people. Supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) converged at the premises of Radio Gold at Latebiokorshie to partake in a candlelight vigil in solidarity with the closure of pro-NDC stations Radio Gold and Radio XYZ. A Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, has said the advice from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their chair, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, to decline the invitation of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is a recipe for chaos in the country. Some pupils of the Nkranketewa African Faith Basic School at Nsoatre in the Bono region were trapped under a makeshift classroom structure after it collapsed. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, May 7, left many of the pupils traumatised. Established some seven years ago, the Nkranketewa African Faith Basic School has not seen much development.
