Some pupils of the Nkranketewa African Faith Basic School at Nsoatre in the Bono region were trapped under a makeshift classroom structure after it collapsed. The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) says that the National Communication Authority (NCA) erred in its move of shutting down Radio Gold and Radio XYZ. GIBA president Andrew Danso Aninkora expressed concern over the “harsh” approach the NCA adopted in dealing with the media companies whose licenses had expired. A man shot a woman in a parking lot and then fled in a vehicle, police said Police were searching for a gunman who fatally shot a woman in the head in the parking lot of a Maryland office building Friday. The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has defied the counsel of the party’s Council of Elders to honour the invitation from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over recent allegations of kidnapping and arson. The party’s Council of Elders and some party executives had advised Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo not to honour the invitation, describing it as “baseless” and an act of “victimization”. Police in Kibi in the Eastern Region on Friday night nabbed a sixth suspect in the beating to death of the headmaster of Salvation Army Basic School at Asiakwa. Evans Aboagye, 18, was arrested from his hideout around 8:00pm. “[He] is currently detained in custody assisting investigation,” the police stated. The Northern Regional Police Command has tendered an application before the Tamale High Court to get to the man who stood surety for Helena Huang to locate her.
