The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) says that the National Communication Authority (NCA) erred in its move of shutting down Radio Gold and Radio XYZ. GIBA president Andrew Danso Aninkora expressed concern over the “harsh” approach the NCA adopted in dealing with the media companies whose licenses had expired. The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has defied the counsel of the party’s Council of Elders to honour the invitation from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over recent allegations of kidnapping and arson. Police in Kibi in the Eastern Region on Friday night nabbed a sixth suspect in the beating to death of the headmaster of Salvation Army Basic School at Asiakwa. Evans Aboagye, 18, was arrested from his hideout around 8:00pm. “[He] is currently detained in custody assisting investigation,” the police stated.
