Christian professionals have been urged to allow their faith to manifest in their professional life in order to help shape society. “As Christians, your faith must reflect in your daily and professional lives, anything less than that is not Christianity”. A board member of the Public Utility Regulation Commission (PURC), Mr. Ishmael Edjekumhene made the call when he addressed the Madina Area Church of Pentecost Professional Ladies (PPL) during a seminar at Dome in Accra. “Every Christian is an ambassador for Christ. As an ambassador your core mandate is to fight for the interest of your brand. Ghana’s ambassador in…
About 8000 teachers recruited by the government to facilitate the implementation of the controversial double track system under the Free SHS policy, have not been paid their salaries five months after their employment. The Ghana Education Service, which is in charge of processing of the newly recruited teachers for their biometric data to be captured and staff identity cards issued them, is said to be dragging its feet in the exercise. Of the three processes required, the new teachers have completed only one, which is the filling of what they termed IPPD forms. They are yet to undergo biometric registration…

No single security personnel has been prosecuted for the attacks on more than 25 journalists and media employees since 2006. Although the perpetrators in some of the cases are identified, the cases are settled sometimes with apologies. In most cases, however, no compensation is paid, while the security organisation involved promise to offer better working relations with the media. Checks by the Daily Graphic have revealed a tall list of victims, including reporters, photojournalists, station managers and editors, who have been brutally assaulted by soldiers and policemen. Some of the attacks have left journalists with serious medical conditions. For instance,…
Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Richard Nyamah, has blamed the sapping cedi on the IMF programme which Ghana entered into in 2015 in the face of the economic challenges faced by the country. The cedi, which trades at 5.2 cedis per dollar today, has grabbed headlines in the last two weeks due to its alarming depreciation against major international trading currencies. Though some analysts have blamed the situation on the import dependent nature of the country, the NPP communicator thinks there is more to it than that. He argued the United States depends heavily on imports yet…

The High Court has dismissed a motion filed by counsel for Seidu Agongo, the CEO of Agricult Ghana Limited, to say proceedings pending interlocutory appeal. The court was of the view that granting the application will cause the case to delay, adding that a notice of appeal was not enough grounds to stay proceedings. The trial judge, Mr. Justice Clemence Honyenuga, a justice of the Court of Appeal with additional responsibility as a High Court judge also rejected claim by Benson Nutsukpui, counsel for the accused, that an investigative report filed by CRIG in court, should be considered as an…

Did I just see some creeping creatures on the floor? And hey; on the walls too? Yes, I did, my sight isn’t that bad after all. An army of ants, creeping from four different directions on the walls. These types I know don’t bite, but the sight of them is not one too fancy to behold. But participants looked on unperturbed, creeping slowly; the very naughty ones had gone down from the wall to the floor with some virtually searching for God knows what in my hand bag. I had left it on the floor for just five seconds. ”I…
