Ten thousand women farmers in the Northern, Upper East and West regions are to benefit from free vaccination against outbreak of newcastle disease. The exercise will be done under the Shepherd project that is expected to be launched in 2018 by Cowtribe Technology, co-founded by 2017 Queen’s Young Leader Award recipient from Ghana, Alimatu Bawah Wiabriga. Twenty-four women have been charged with indecency after being caught wearing trousers at a party near the Sudanese capital Khartoum. The gathering was raided by morality police on Wednesday. The women could face punishment of 40 lashes and a fine for wearing what is described as an obscene outfit. Rights activists say tens of thousands of women are arrested and flogged for indecency every year, and laws can be applied arbitrarily. Full fumigation of the Kumasi Academy campus has commenced in the wake of the outbreak of swine flu in the school that has so far claimed the lives of four students. It is emerging that the knife that was used to stab an old Vandal to death Saturday evening at the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana was snatched from a khebab seller. A disagreement between the deceased, whose name has only been given as Chief Tipsy, and his colleague, was said to have caused the latter to stab him to death at about 8:30pm at the ‘Charging Grounds’ of the Hall. The Agona Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced a 40 year-old farmer to 12 years in jail after defiling and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter. The convict, Abubakar Osumanu, a cocoa farmer at Akorakese, near Akim Oda, a cocoa community in the Eastern Region, confessed and pleaded guilty to the charges of incest and defilement. Police Chief Inspector Isaac Amon told the court presided by Michael Cudjoe Etumi, that an endorsed medical report confirmed the state of the victim.
