An anti-corruption crusader, Vitus Azeem, says the establishment of the much talked about Special Prosecutor Office would not make any difference in the country’s fight against corruption as has been anticipated by many. A midwife at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi is cautioning pregnant women against the consumption of alcoholic beverages, warning of serious consequences including deformities to their unborn babies. Ms. Juliana Bosomprah who is the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of KATH said if a pregnant women takes in alcohol, it enters her bloodstream and passed on to the unborn baby thus exposing it to irreparable damage. Nine mud houses at Asumesu No2, a small village in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region, have been burnt allegedly by some nomadic herdsmen in the area as authorities struggle to end clashes between residents and the nomadic herdsmen. Residents of the community and those other communities were at a meeting Wednesday to find best ways getting pupils in the area to return to school when the herdsmen allegedly stormed Asumesu No2 to burn down their homes. President Nana Akufo-Addo has held discussions with the Emir Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to establish areas of mutual benefit of the two countries. A commercial driver who ran his vehicle into a gutter in front of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation office in Accra Thursday, abandoned passengers on board and fled the scene, the GBC reported.The Hyundai Grace Urvan mini bus with registration GE 1368-13 was said to be overtaking another trotro vehicle when it veered off the road and landed on its right side in the big gutter just at the exit route to the GBC premises.
