Studies, according to J Initiative, have shown that 95% of girls in Ghana do not attend school during menstruation mainly because of the lack of sanitary facilities in schools. A total of 1,000 bags of maize have been harvested from the National Service Scheme farms at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region, with an anticipation to harvest 15,000 bags across all its farms in the country. Hundreds of Metro Mass Transit drivers across the country have grounded buses of the company to protest what they say are poor working conditions and remuneration. The drivers say efforts to get the management of the company to improve their working conditions have been fruitless as management is yet to respond to their letters on the issue. A total of 37 volleyball players made up of men and women have started a non-residential camping and training at the Accra Sports ahead of the 2018 FIVB World Cup qualifiers. Social media site Twitter is trialling longer character limits to help users “easily express themselves”. Twitter currently limits tweets to 140 characters, but has doubled that to 280 characters for a small group of users.
