A thirty-minute storm that hit Sekondi-Takoradi municipality has left in it wake destroyed billboards and avenue trees.
The storm which was preceded by ghastly winds started around 11 :45 Wednesday morning when workers were preparing to observe this year’s May Day.
More than 20 billboards lining up the road leading to the Kwame Nkrumah roundabout were ripped apart.
In one instance, a billboard belonging to an automobile company fell on a parked white Volkswagen saloon car.
No body was hurt as the occupants were relaxing in an eatery nearby.
At the Kwame Nkrumah roundabout close to 15 billboards were torn down.
The roof of an ATM booth at the Edzii Goil filling station was also ripped off exposing the machines to the vagaries of the weather.
Avenue trees lining up the PTC road were also not spared.
Several sections of the double road were littered with branches that had fallen from the trees.
The silver lining was that some scavengers took the opportunity to collect materials and metal components of some of the fallen billboards.
Reports from the Mpohor District indicated the roof of the Mpohor Senior High School was also ripped off.
No known casualties have been recorded so far.
