File[/caption] 3news.com can confirm that some senior police officers are being investigated by the Bureau of National Investigations in connection with the alleged coup plot. At least one of the senior police officers is a Commissioner of Police (COP). They are said to have been in close contact with some alleged coup plotters currently standing trial. Snippets of information gathered by 3news.com suggest that experts have examined the phones and other communication gadgets of the plotters – Dr Yao Mac-Palm, leader of the group, together with Donya Kafui, alias Ezor, a blacksmith, and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, a freight manager, – after their arrest, triggering investigations of the senior police officers. Sources within the Ghana Police Service will not confirm the name of the COP involved but insist he was a contender for the position of the IGP prior to the appointment of Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh.
