Contrary to the popular belief that people with sickle cell are prone to early death, the Head of Department and senior lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School, Dr. Charles Antwi Boasiako, has called such perceptions myths. Former president Jerry John Rawlings has started a campaign to raise funds to enable a retired police officer to undergo surgical operation. The retired officer, Chief Superintendent Ben Mensah needed money for a knee cap replacement surgery. He needed over ¢65,000 for the surgery. Former president Rawlings made the revelation when a delegation from the Ablekuma South constituency led by the Member of Parliament, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, presented an undisclosed amount to the Rawlings Foundation. South Africa have planed a pre-2019 Africa Cup of Nations friendly against Ghana in the United Arab Emirates. The Bafana Bafana will travel to Dubai for heat acclimatization ahead of the tournament. Resident engineer from the Ghana Highways Authority working on the Madina-Adenta footbridges, Shamsu Deen Isah, has assured the public some staircases will be constructed as part of the footbridges to make them more accessible.
