The action eventually led to the collapse of seven banks and the downgrading of one. On assuming office in January 2017, the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration through the Bank of Ghana (BoG), took steps to do what it described as ‘sanitizing the financial sector”. The exercise which ended in December 2018 saw some banks folding up, others merged and some…
In more proof that U.S. oil production is continuing to alter global oil markets, Russia’s finance minister Anton Siluanov said on Saturday that Russia and OPEC might decide to increase production to fight for market share with the U.S. His remarks were first covered by Russia’s Tass News Agency. Siluanov said that lower oil prices would then have a negative impact on U.S. oil production, an argument that was also made as far back as late 2014 when the Saudis sought to drive U.S. producers out of business by opening the oil production spigots in spite of an already flooded global oil…
The National Council for Curriculum & Assessment (NaCCA) has mounted strong defence for the prominence given Dr. J. B. Armah said it has no interest in skewing Ghana’s political history, insisting claims that J.B. is unduly being amplified over others are “unfortunate”. Nana Joseph Kwame…

Chairman of the National Council for Curriculum & Assessment (NaCCA) Professor Kwame Osei Kwarteng says Dr. J.B Danquah was mentioned several times in the new primary school curriculum because of his intellectual contribution to the country’s history.
