Two apartments were Tuesday morning set ablaze in Takoradi, Western region, by a man suspected to be mentally challenged. Mawul,  who is in his early thirties, had jokingly announced his intention to set his mother’s apartment ablaze Tuesday, and neighbours also treated it lightly and did not therefore take any proactive measure. True to his words, Mawul reportedly set fire in his mother’s apartment, which is an old bungalow previously occupied by staff of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. Madam Cecilia Isabella Akwetey, the Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, says the 2018 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government has been translated into seven Ghanaian languages in order to enhance easy understanding to the ordinary Ghanaian. The Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) has been asked not to close down the Yapei and Buipe bridges in the Northern region at the same time as planned. The Member of Parliament for the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency, John Abdulai Jinapor, who made the appeal, suggested that the closure should be done in phases. The MP acknowledged that there is an urgent need for the bridges to be repaired, but to do them simultaneously will inconvenience the people and create hardship. UK camera operator Mark Milsome has died filming a stunt scene for upcoming BBC and Netflix drama The Forgiving Earth.  He was 54 years old. Milsome’s agent confirmed the news to Screen. The Guild of British Camera Technicians has issued a statement to its members. The incident took place during a night shoot on location in Ghana on Saturday (Nov 18). Milsome was working as a camera operator on a car stunt sequence when he was killed. London-born Milsome is survived by a wife and daughter. The Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency in the Central Region is demanding an unqualified apology from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) over their comments on the release of funds to the various Senior High Schools in the country. Zimbabwe’s former vice-president, whose sacking led to last week’s army takeover, has urged President Robert Mugabe to resign immediately. Emmerson Mnangagwa said he fled abroad two weeks ago when he learned of a plot to kill him, and he would not return until he was sure of his security. A late evening fire outbreak at the premises of the Ghana Grid Company (GridCo) in Tamale in the Northern Region has left one of the company’s 11.5KV power feeders destroyed. The incident caused a total blackout within the entire Tamale Metropolis for about an hour Monday, TV3’s Zubaida Ismail reported. Power has since been restored.
