Fourteen students of the Kumasi Technical University have been sacked over examination malpractices and for entering the University with falsified WASSCE results. Six students were dismissed for examination malpractices while eight others were also dismissed for entering the university with falsified entry results. Details of the findings from the admissions office of the University revealed that some of the students presented certificates from WAEC with index numbers that were later found to contain different names. A new group has emerged in Tamale to resist attempts by some members of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to impeach their chief executive, Iddrissu Musah Superior. Thirty-one of the 58 assembly members are seeking to impeach the MCE over allegations of financial malfeasance and show of disrespect, claiming Mr Superior has been using the assembly’s scarce resources to pay salaries of some 61 taskforce of the assembly. The Catalan regional parliament has voted to declare independence from Spain, just as the Spanish government appears set to impose direct rule. The move was backed 70-10 in a ballot boycotted by opposition MPs. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy earlier told senators direct rule was needed to return “law, democracy and stability” to Catalonia. The crisis began when Catalans backed independence in a disputed vote earlier this month. Toyota Ghana has initiated a move to recall about 15,000 of its vehicles with faulty Takata airbags for them to be replaced with the improved life-saving gadgets. The vehicles include some Toyota models made from 2002 to 2014 and may have airbags that are prone to exploding when deployed, hurling fiery metal fragments into drivers and passengers which could cause injury or even death.
