A suspected armed robber has been shot dead by the Police in Bawku in an attempted highway robbery in the Upper East Region. They were among 13 people arrested on 17 October for taking part in a meeting to discuss challenging a law stopping private health clinics from providing HIV and Aids services. Two hundred and twenty-four Togolese who have arrived in Ghana to seek asylum from political unrest in their country are struggling with accommodation. The refugees, currently at Chereponi in the Northern Region, are living on the benevolence of some local people who have offered their homes to the Togolese. So far, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has registered 502 Togolese refugees who entered Ghana through Cherepone.
