The Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, (UEW) Professor Mawutor Avokeh and five other officers of the University have been detained by Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged procurement breaches, 3News has gathered. At least five homes were raided by armed robbers at Bediako in the Kpone-Katamanso constituency near Tema Community 25 Tuesday dawn. 3news.com’s reporter Josephine Frempong who visited the robbery scene said several people were injured with some suffering from serious knife wounds while others were severely beaten by the robbers. An Accra High Court has dismissed an interlocutory injunction filed by the Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) against the implementation of the Millennium Development Compact II which seeks to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
