A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress, Abaraham Amaliba, wants government to merge the Ministry of Railways Development with the Ministry of Roads and Highways, arguing the establishment of the former is unjustifiable. Government has offered to pay the medical bills of all persons injured in Monday’s train derailment at Tesano in Accra that left some passengers injured, the Ministry of Railways Development has announced. A court in South Africa has postponed the sentencing of two white farmers found guilty of kidnapping, assault and intent to do grievous bodily harm after they shoved a black man in a coffin and threatened to set him on fire. Sentencing proceedings were heard at the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday for several hours. Zainab Umar, a final-year economics student at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University in Katsina state, died last week after a snake bite.
