Scores of passengers were injured Monday morning when one of the coaches of an Accra-bound train from Tema derailed at Achimota in Accra. The accident occurred at 7:40am just when it took off from the Achimota Train Station where it made a stopover to pick some passengers. Acting Area Manager of the Ghana Railway Company, Abraham Wood, who was aboard the train at the time of the accident said there were about 500 passengers on board. Over 500 science and agricultural students of the Begro Senior High School in the Eastern Region are unable to have science practical lessons as contractors have abandoned renovation work on a Science Resource Centre. Rehabilitation work which was expected seven years ago, with allocation from the petroleum revenue, was not finished, leaving the facility in a sorry state. Doctors and medical staff at the Binde Health Center in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District of the Northern Region are calling for emergency rehabilitation of the facility to fix some structural defects and obsolete equipment.
